Analysis of data collected from an online survey service

One of the biggest advantages of using an online survey service is that it allows you to view results as they are collected in real-time. Analysis is done as each response is completed.

The following screen shows responses to a questionnaire using Bristol Onlines Surveys (BOS).

Descriptive analysis using online survey service

You can see here that the analysis performed by BOS is descriptive . That is, it merely summarises responses into counts of how many occurrences there are for each response. Descriptive statistics are used to describe the basic features of the data in a study. They provide simple summaries about the sample and the measures. Together with simple graphics analysis, they form the basis of virtually every quantitative analysis of data.
