The Academic Writing Fridge Magnet

The Academic Writing Fridge Magnet is a resource that has been created by learning developers at Nottingham Trent University. It has been developed to help students develop and vary the vocabulary that they use in their written assignments.

The magnet is divided into four sections indicating words to help students:

Sequence points

Insert references

Show contrast {mosimage}

Sum up or conclude.

Students are encouraged to stick the magnet somewhere they will see it regularly and try to use the words in their writing.

The magnet also comes in a helpful folder that explains how to use the magnet, lists Learnhigher's top ten academic writing tips and provides a useful summary of helpful and informative academic writing websites.
